We are pleased to announce our new course center in Tokyo, Japan. Tokyo is large city with over 12.7 million people. For most people think of Japan they envision high technology, over sized sumo wrestlers, kimono-clad geisha girls, and ancient temples. Whatever you imagine you will find as there is something for everyone from the hustle and bustle of the ever growing metropolis to the misty hillsides and lush gardens.

Tokyo is a major world leader in economics and industry. The city boasts large numbers of world-class institutions of higher education and has the highest concentration of universities in Japan. Japan has always been one of the busiest TEFL markets in Asia, in Tokyo the demand for English is ALWAYS very high and people learn English as much for fun as for as for education or work requirements. While many people see Tokyo as an expensive city there are some attractive salaries to be had making travel and everyday item more affordable.

Tokyo’s charm comes from the interweaving of the new pop culture with the time-honored old traditions still evident in everyday living. In some parts of the city, the streets are as crowded at 3 a.m. as they are at 3 p.m. Despite this, Tokyo is also one of the safest cities in the world, with impressively low crime/violence rates. The real highlight of your time in Japan will be the gracious hospitality of the Japanese people.

Course Location

TEFL’s new course center is located in Shibuya (about a 15-minute walk from Shibuya Station) which is one of the twenty-three city wards of Tokyo. Known as the shopping and entertainment district it is within walking distance from two other large shopping districts - Omotesando and Harajuku - as well as being quite close to Yoyogi Park and the Meiji Jingu shrine. A prominent landmark of Shibuya is the large intersection in front of the station which is heavily decorated by neon advertisements and giant video screens and gets crossed by amazingly large crowds of pedestrians each time the traffic light turns green.

Accommodations

Trainees will need to arrange for their own housing during the TESOL course. There are 5 options to consider (1) a monthly apartment for rent (2) a Japanese Inn without meals (3) a long stay guests-friendly hotel (4) a youth hostel-style hotel and (5) a youth hostel. They will range in price from $ - $$$ depending on your preferences.
